Vienna New Year’s Concert is a well-known traditional activity for new year celebration. I listened it at last night by webcast. The music performed in the concert is mostly of that Strauss famliy mainly composed by Johann Strauss I & his son Johann Strauss II.
New Year Concert in Shanghai
Shanghai adopt New Year’s Concert for several years. theatres invite famous philharmonic orchestras to perform concert in Shanghai. I had wanted to attend 2 years ago, but fianlly I missed all by some reasons. During New Year’s Music Week, at least 3 philharmonic orchestras coming from Austria and Sweden performed high quality concerns in Shanghai. I booked ticket and went to one of them performed by Vienna Academic Philharmonic Orchestra tonight in Shanghai Majestic Theatre, West Nanjing road.
What is my experience?
Musicians performed about 14 very popular classical musics. I understood most of them such as famous Blue Danube Waltz and Hungarian Dances No.5. The end was usual Radetzky-March. The performance is pretty good, at least it is better than ths last concert I attended that was performed by a Russian symphony orchestra. The pity is that concert ended by encoring twice but not thrice, and vocal effect in the theatre is not as good as I expected.
Usually the Vienna New Year’s Concert live recording would appear on market soon about 2-3 weeks. I will collect it without any hesitation.
Scene
The first photo was took by hand-holding with Nikon 5200, so it isn’t clear. Photography with flash is prohibited in concert place. Few audience took photos with flash tonight during performing, despite theatre broadcasting the rule before the beginning. But good thing is that I never heard cellphone ring. People is becoming more and more courtlike as the classical music reflecting.
Anyway, an amazing night I had.
I also record a video clip with my Smartphone = Dopod 535. Very blurry. They were performing Hungarian Dances No.5 of Johannes Brahms.
